The Zone Technique is a healing methodology that balances the six Zones of the brain – Glandular, Eliminative, Nervous, Digestive, Muscular, and Circulatory – with gentle, specific chiropractic adjustments. This allows your body to function optimally, as once balanced, the brain can send the proper signals to all of the glands, muscles, organs, and cells of the body, all of which fall under one or more of the control of the six Zones.
The Glandular Zone controls all of the glands of your body, including but not limited to:
- Pineal
- Pituitary
- Hypothalamus
- Thyroid
- Mammary
- Adrenals
- Pancreas
- Liver
- Kidneys
- Adrenals
- Digestive glands of the stomach
- Uterus
- Ovaries
- Prostate
- Gonads
The Zone Technique differs from conventional medical treatment because the focus is on balancing the brain and nervous system so your body can begin to heal and function normally versus masking the symptoms with a drug or removing a gland or organ with surgery.
In my 30 years of practice, I have found that the Zone Technique is one of the most effective methods to optimize the body for function and healing. The Zone Technique is extremely specific and can be administered gently. Even newborns and infants can receive the Zone Technique effectively with specific and gentle contacts held for a few seconds.
How Our Glandular Zone Care Plan Works
Identifying The Cause
We listen to you, and more importantly, we hear you. We take this information, along with utilizing two state-of-the-art computerized technologies, to determine what is going on in your body and how this affects your health. We then devise a personalized plan to help you reach your goals.
Specific Chiropractic Care
Based on what we find in your computerized exam, we now know exactly how to adjust you. At each visit, we determine where to adjust you based on which zone of your brain is imbalanced on that visit. Adjustments are performed with the best instruments in the industry so that they are precise, extremely gentle, and tailored to your body’s needs.
Accelerate Your Healing
Research has shown that your brain is most open to change for 20 minutes after a chiropractic adjustment. That being so, why would we immediately send you out into the world that put you in the condition you came in with? We don’t! We maximize that period after your adjustment with our groundbreaking Transformation Stations, which accelerate healing and contribute to permanent positive changes and habits.
How We Use The Zone Technique in Woodstock, GA
Comprehensive Consultation and Exam
Our comprehensive consultation and exam involve us first explaining how our approach is different. We’ll ask specific questions about your health and lifestyle and explain why that information is important. Our exam involves a computerized neurological scan, computerized postural assessment, an assessment of grip strength, pulse oximetry, and manual palpation of your spine.
Your consultation and exam will show us how the Zone and nervous system imbalances affect your overall health. We will learn how your body is handling and processing stress, if your body is in fat-burning or fat-storing mode, and at what age your body is truly functioning. On your second visit, we will explain our findings and let you know if you are a good candidate for our office. If you are, as part of your first visit, we will determine which Zone needs addressing that day by pressing on six specific points on the back of your head. You will be able to tell us which Zone is imbalanced and will also be able to confirm when we have balanced it.
Getting to the root cause of any problem is essential because if you only mask the symptoms, the problem will get worse. We want to get your body into healing autopilot so you can heal 24/7, and superficial issues won’t progress into permanent ones over time.
Chiropractic Care
A subluxation is when a spinal bone is out of place, impacting your spinal flexibility and interfering with the spinal cord and the nerve energy and communication between the brain and the body. This interference can lead to imbalances in the six Zones leading to an inability to heal and adapt properly.
In most cases, we locate subluxations using the Zone Technique, which tells us exactly which spinal segments need to be addressed. They are then gently corrected based on the state of your nervous system determined during your exam. Chiropractic adjustments correct these misalignments allowing us to balance the brain and remove nerve interference at the spinal level.
Many lifestyle choices are effective for transforming health. Exercise and fitness are two, as are a healthy diet. Your body needs movement, and your muscles need strength, and feeding them with a healthy diet and full nerve supply through chiropractic is the best way to accomplish this.
Science has proven that the brain is most plastic and open to change in the 20 minutes after an adjustment. In our office, we work to maximize that time with:
- Transformation Stations – relieves the pressure of gravity on your spine (as the brain uses 90% of its energy to keep you upright in posture)
- Earthing Technology – helps balance your body’s energy and eliminate inflammation
- BrainTap Headset – stimulates your brain with light and sound while you listen to soft music and guided imagery designed to help you reach your health goals, from weight loss to better sleep.
We have found that these 12-20 minute sessions after each adjustment accelerate healing and allow your overall progress to be much faster, especially when combined with the home care we recommend.
Common Symptoms of Glandular System Imbalance
Chronic Fatigue
Many glands, including the thyroid, pancreas, and adrenal glands, control your energy levels. Each gland plays a part in your energy and metabolism, just like each brick in building a wall. You need all of your glands to function optimally and work in harmony with one another and the body to experience optimal energy and metabolism.
The Glandular System, much like all of the other Zones, can come out of balance due to chemical, physical, or emotional stress. An out-of-balance Zone means the brain is not sending optimal energy or messaging to the glands, organs, and cells within that Zone, muting communication and function much like a dimmer switch mutes the amount of power going to a lightbulb.
We can stimulate and “reboot” the imbalanced zone by utilizing specific chiropractic adjustments, changing the communication and energy levels sent from the brain from a trickle to a fire hose. The enhancement allows those areas to function, heal, and express optimally. In addressing the root cause of the problem, true healing can occur.
Migraines
An imbalance in any of the systems can contribute to the cause of headaches or migraines. Migraines are linked to hormonal changes, hormones secreted by glands. Migraines can also correspond to serotonin levels, a chemical produced in the brain and excreted. Migraines are linked to emotional stress levels and sleep quality. They fall under the Glandular Zone due to this Zones effect on emotional balance, sleep, and relaxation. Finally, the Glandular Zone involves the first cervical vertebra, which is closest to the brainstem and, as a result, can contribute to both migraines and headaches.
Headaches are unpleasant pains in your head that can cause pressure and aching. They usually occur on both sides of your head, and the pain can range from mild to severe. Some specific areas where headaches can occur include the:
- Forehead
- Temples
- Back of the neck
A typical headache usually lasts between five minutes and four hours. Some migraine episodes can last for days or even longer.
Migraine attacks are intense or severe and often have other symptoms in addition to head pain. Symptoms associated with migraine without aura include:
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Nausea
- Pain behind one eye or ear
- Pain in the temples
- Sensitivity to light and sound
- Vomiting
- Muscle aches
Compared with tension or other headache types, migraine pain can be moderate to severe. Some people may experience severe migraine attacks requiring emergency room care.
Migraine episodes will typically affect only one side of the head. However, it’s possible to have a migraine episode that affects both sides of the head. Other differences include the pain’s quality. A migraine attack will cause intense pain that may be throbbing, making it difficult to perform daily tasks.
Chiropractic care and the Zone Technique help relieve headaches and address the root cause of the problem by balancing the Glandular Zone, allowing the proper communication and healing energy to be sent from that area of the brain to the rest of the body, especially all the glands, allowing healing and as a result, proper function and secretion to take place. The fact that the first cervical vertebra, which is closest to the brainstem, is involved with the Glandular Zone also relieves pressure in that area.
Weak Immunity
Your Glandular Zone helps run many glands that contribute to immune health, such as your thymus, adenoids, spleen, tonsils, lymph organs, and bone marrow. When these areas do not receive optimal nerve flow and energy, their function can be compromised and lowered, resulting in lower overall immune function.
A weakened immune system can result in a myriad of issues, from more frequent colds and allergies to being more susceptible to viruses and bacterial infections to eczema, asthma, and autoimmune issues.
Balancing the Glandular System along with the other Zones allows optimal healing energy and communication from the brain to the body, glands, and organs of the Glandular System. This can lead to healing and higher function in those areas, strengthening immunity.
Insomnia
Insomnia is the inability to either stay or fall asleep for an adequate amount of time, which can be extremely detrimental to one’s health and mental state.
Insomnia can have multiple causes, from stress to a work schedule that throws off your circadian rhythm (night shift work, for example). Diet can also cause insomnia, as can an overactive/overstimulated nervous system.
In many cases, chiropractic and the Zone Technique have successfully resolved sleep issues. Balancing the Glandular Zone allows the pineal gland to regulate melatonin levels better.
Bad Memory and Concentration
Many glands can contribute to memory and concentration, ranging from the pineal and pituitary glands to the thyroid and adrenal glands. These can affect many aspects of your function, which can, directly and indirectly, contribute to your ability to concentrate.
An imbalance in the Glandular Zone can contribute to memory and concentration issues because the energy and communication sent from this area of the brain are “dimmed” down to a trickle when going to the glands under its control. Glandular function is altered so that certain hormones such as adrenaline, cortisol, and thyroid hormones can not be at the levels they need to be, which can negatively affect memory and concentration.
Chiropractic care and balancing your brain with the Zone Technique can allow the proper nerve flow and communication to the glands of your body, allowing them to heal and secrete the adequate amount of hormones you need to function optimally. These health glands can then help improve memory, concentration, and other issues.
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia literally translates to muscle fiber pain, so in many cases, a diagnosis of fibromyalgia is Greek for the symptoms experienced. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome marked by chronic, widespread muscle and soft tissue pain with defined points of tenderness and often multiple other symptoms, such as fatigue, sleep disturbance, anxiety, and bowel dysfunction.
Fibromyalgia symptoms can often begin after an event, such as physical trauma, surgery, infection, or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate with no single triggering event.
Women are more likely to develop fibromyalgia than men, and many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and depression.
Chiropractic and the Zone Technique can help relieve fibromyalgia by balancing the brain and body to properly process physical and emotional stress, eliminating the condition’s root cause.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Zone Technique?
The Zone Technique is a spinal stimulation technique that focuses on balancing the six Zones of the brain via gentle adjustments of the spinal column, allowing the brain to send the proper signals to all the glands, muscles, organs, and cells so that self-healing and regulation can occur.
What comprises the glandular zone?
The Glandular Zone comprises all glands in the body, from the glands in your head, like the pineal and pituitary glands, down to the glands in your pelvis, like the uterus, ovaries, prostate, and gonads.
What does an optimized glandular system look like?
An optimized glandular system is in full communication with the brain and nervous system so that glandular secretion can occur as needed, allowing the body to adapt to its internal and external environment.
What are the symptoms of a dysfunctional glandular system?
There are numerous symptoms of an imbalanced Glandular Zone, including memory and concentration issues, frequent colds and viral infections, low energy, thinning hair, eczema, sleep issues, infertility, inability to relax, emotional imbalance, and even a poor outlook on life.
How do you fix the glandular system?
Balancing the Glandular Zone involves determining that this system needs balancing on a specific visit. Once that is determined, specific vertebrae are gently stimulated with chiropractic adjustments, and the Glandular Zone is retested to confirm balance has been restored.
What is fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a syndrome of symptoms that involve pain in the muscle fibers. These symptoms can include fatigue, point tenderness, sleep, and digestive issues.
What is the best way to stop a migraine?
If you feel a migraine coming on, the best way to attempt to stop it is with a cold compress in a dark, quiet place, making sure you are properly hydrated. To help prevent getting a migraine in the first place, making sure your brain and nervous system are functioning properly through chiropractic care is recommended.
Can chiropractic care help me sleep better?
Chiropractic care can help you sleep better for many reasons. When your brain and nervous system are balanced, your body will go into a rest/heal/repair mode at night (better known as parasympathetic dominance) so that you can sleep deeply and soundly. A nervous system that isn’t balanced gets stuck in “fight or flight” (also known as sympathetic dominance), so relaxation and deep sleep are very hard to come by.
How does chiropractic care give me more energy?
Chiropractic can help you have more energy because your body functions the way it was created to function. Hormones are balanced, you are digesting and assimilating your food properly so that you are getting the most out of the nutrition you eat or drink, your muscles are relaxed and able to rebuild, and your nervous system can adapt to your internal and external environment so that you can sleep soundly and not be fatigued during the day.
